Module 1a (2 months) runs twice a year from 1st
March to 1st May and from 1st
August to 1st October. The
students arriving at the same time that
the module starts will obviously continue
directly onto this module, but the
students arriving in between these dates,
have to start on the following module
after their arrival.
Type 1.
Type 1 consists of:
2 days seminar, a practical placement, 2 months Module 1a at college. total = 18 months.
Example of type 1:
If a student is required to start work on a farm from 1st
January, then the application must be sent
by 1st October (the previous
year). The student will start his
residency with a 2-day seminar, then his
practical placement for the rest of
January and the whole of February,
followed by Module 1a at college from 1st
March to 1st May and thereafter
back to the farm.
Type 2.
2 months Module 1a at college, an 18 month practical placement. total = 20 months.
Example of type 2:
Some farmers require a student who has already taken
Module 1a before starting his practical
placement, in which case the application
has to be made before 1st Maj.
If a student arrives in Denmark outside Module 1a ´s
normal starting dates (1st
March and 1st August), then
there will be held a 2-day seminar for the
student on their arrival.
Overseas students normally arrive on a Friday. Their
host farmer is invited to the agricultural
college on the Sunday for coffee to meet
with Landbrugets Jobservice and the
students. Having “joined up” the
farmers take their respective students
home with them.
A student is allowed a living and working permit for 12
months. If both the farmer and student
want to prolong the working arrangement,
then it is possible to agree on an
extension from between 6 – 18 months.
Students wanting to apply for a 5 month Module 1b
residency, have to have lived in
Denmark
for a minimum of 6 months.
Modul 1b lasts from 1st February to 1st
July and from 1st October to 1st
March.
Type 3.
A 2 day seminar, a 6 month practical placement
(minimum) + possibility for an extension ( up to 19 months
practical). 5 months Module 1b
For example:
Applications latest 1st January for Module
1b start 1st September and 1st
May for start 1st February.
This means that if a student is required to start work
on a farm from 1st August, the
application must be sent by 1st
May. The student will start his residency
with a 2-day seminar, followed by a
practical placement (for example 6 months),
Module 1b and then the last practical.
The procedure for students wanting to take Module 1b
who are already living in
Denmark
is as follows:
Applications should be sent by 1st December
for start on Module 1b 1st
February, and 1st August for
start 1st October.
AER. (Employer-student wage reimbursement)
As regards wage
reimbursement of the student by the state,
both Module 1a and Module 1b are the same
as for a Danish worker. There is an AER
education agreement made between the
student and the farmer. If there needs to
be an individual agreement regarding a
student and their arrival and college
residency, then the farmer just has to
contact LJ or
Korinth
Agricultural
College
so that the farmers’ wishes can be
satisfied.
